Hospital Care Project

Hospital Care Project

The hospital care project kicked off in early June 2016. Amy had been in contact with a lady by the name of Kerry Bruwer who fosters children and has a project running called Love Ever Lasting. Therefore Amy identified with the project and the amazing work Kerry does out in Vredenburg. This had been an answered prayer as Amy wanted to connect with moms and babies. The hospital care project was born.

Shortly after Amy made contact with Hospitals in our area and made appointments to meet with the nursing staff. They were welcomed with open arms. Amy and Bronson went out and purchased some items for the first lot of gift bags. Also, they put a post out on social media and the support was overwhelming from the community. Amy had enough to pack for 27x care bags and off she went to her first hospital visit. staff

Amy could see that the need for basic toiletries and items were in great demand. Especially relevant was that there were many young mothers with not much support or knowledge. Most of the discussions are based on the fact that the new moms feel overwhelmed and unprepared – giving into the feeling of abandoning their responsibilities as the only way out.

Reaching out to young mothers

The initiative is to reach out to these mothers, to reassure and encourage them that they are able to care and love their babies despite the difficult circumstances they face daily. The care pack would provide the basic essentials to assist the new moms and babies on their journey.

Most of the moms have been brought to tears with their care bags. Almost everyone had felt encouraged that someone had taken the trouble and can identify with their situation and experience. Through this initiative we have been able to keep in contact with some of the moms. They feel that a friendship and the support is important to carry on caring, loving and growing with their baby. As a result there have been so many great relationships formed and feel truly blessed that we can be apart of their new journey.

Amy and her sister Dianne now visit the hospitals once a week and as a result 27x care packs are prepared weekly. Delivered to the moms and new babies. Consequently to date and in a short amount of time, the project has seen over 300 moms and babies reached with over R28 000.00 worth of care packs given out.

What a wonderful blessing it is for us to be an encouragement in someones life. Which should be filled with excitement and happiness during this time.  РAmy Vos

In conclusion we would just like to thank everyone that has been a apart of this wonderful project. Most noteworthy is the many people that have come forward. It has been amazing to watch it unfold and grow. Thank you.
